Recycle old cell phones
Spring clean with a conscience and recycle your old or unwanted cell phones for a good cause.
Cell phones donated at the Body Shop sites will be sold, refurbished or recycled. Some will be distributed to about 200 women's shelters, where they will be given to women at risk of domestic violence for use in emergencies.
Proceeds from phones sold will benefit the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Wireless Foundation, a nonprofit group addressing societal problems and challenges with wireless technology.
Cell phones can be dropped off through Aug. 31 at the Body Shop locations.
The 2005 "Donate a Phone, Save a Life" campaign has been publicized by Lifetime Television and comes in response to new research showing almost 157 million Americans - more than half of all adults - are personally acquainted with a victim of a violent partner.
U.S. households are thought to own an estimated 65 million unused, old cell phones.
